Dr. Christopher Hatton received his D.M.A. in Piano Performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2012, his M.M. from Colorado State University in 2005 and his B.A. from the University of Kansas in 1999. He has studied classical piano with Dr. Richard Angeletti, Dr. Janet Landreth, and Doris Lehnert, and jazz with Pat Bianchi, Dan Gailey and Peter Sommer. He currently serves on the faculty of Colorado Christian University in Denver, Colo., where he teaches classical and jazz piano and improvisation courses, as well as assisting with jazz combos and the Mainstream Ensemble. He has also served as a jazz clinician at CMEA. He currently plays as jazz freelance around the Front Range of Colorado in venues such as Dazzle and the St. Julien. As a member of the rock band Carbon Choir, he performed with diverse acts such as Derek Trucks, Stars and the Redwalls, and has been a featured artist on MTV. His recent publication for the iPad, is The Real Improvisation Book.
